During the eight months after the pilot's first broadcast, 17 original episodes of the series were made (five of them two-part shows), equivalent to a standard 24-episode TV season. In addition to the basic rank structure, the Colonial Fleet is organized into various departments and various Military Positions, jobs which are held within those departments. It is unknown whether the Colonial Marines account for members or not. The counters for the Vipers and the Raiders included three model versions MKI/MKII/MKIII, not just the MKII Viper and Raider MKI. A new TV movie called Galactica 1980 was produced.
